Have you ever thought about making a reservation at your favorite restaurant or ordering take-out from the comfort of your car ? While we can already do those things via our smartphones, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) wants to kick things up a notch.
Besides Honda's Dream Drive system, FCA will also be introducing their very own next-gen infotainment system that can help you find a parking space, order your favorite food online, as well as allow you to gas up without the need to pay using cash.
Say hello to Uconnect Market, FCA's latest in advanced in-car feature that allows customers to purchase products / order services online via the in-car touchscreen. In a nutshell, the new e-commerce platform will allow FCA customers to skip the lines and immediately get what they want with just a few clicks.
From paying for food & beverages to getting your car re-fueled, to locating nearby parking slots as well as setting up a servicing appointment at the nearest FCA dealership, Uconnect Market can do all of these without drivers needing to pull out their credit card.
“Our customers live busy lives, and our goal with the Uconnect platform is to provide an advanced portfolio of services to make their daily drive more convenient, productive and enjoyable. This is why we are launching Uconnect Market, as we continue to ramp-up our connectivity efforts around the world with the goal of having all new FCA vehicles connected by 2022,” said Alan D’Agostini, Global Head of Connected Services, FCA.
There will be five key features that Uconnect Market will have once it's available to the market. These includes: Wallet – for setting up and maintaining your account balance, Service – access to Mopar service offers and locating / scheduling an authorized dealership for servicing, Fuel – which helps drivers look for the nearest gas stations as well as charge pump via credit card, Food – for making reservations or ordering food, and Parking – which can find, book, and even pay in advance at participating parking spaces.
Upon launch, brands that the Uconnect Market system will be partnering up with in the US includes: Shell, Domino's, Yelp and Park Whiz. The new platform will deploy in the second half of 2019 via an over-the-air update for 2019 and 2020 model year Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles. The new feature will only work on 8.4-inch touchscreen systems that come with connected services.
As in-car infotainment systems continue to become more advanced, we won't be surprised if future systems will even come with intelligent A.I. like Tony Stark's J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y.
