Excitement is palpable in Maranello as Ferrari prepares to unveil the most powerful convertible in the stable, powered by the company’s award-winning 8-cyliner engine, the 458 Speciale A (A for Aperta).
Limited to only 499 units, with loyal Ferrari collectors having the right of first refusal, it takes inspiration from a model that has collected practically every possible award from the international motoring media including success on the track as well as a double WEC title and category wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 458.
Powered by Ferrari’s most powerful naturally aspirated road-going V8 engine ever built, the 458 Speciale A is without a doubt the fastest convertible on the planet. Churning out 604.7 PS and 540 Nm of torque yet only yielding 275 g/km of CO2 emissions is one of the reasons why this engine won three international Best Performance Engine.
In the cockpit is a special plaque indicating the awards reaped by the engine and while you’re in there it is worth noting that is you mash the accelerator from a standstill, you will rocket from 0-100kph in a mere 3 seconds. It has a Fiorano lap time of 1’23”5.
This is achieved by front and rear active aerodynamics, a rigid chassis composed of 10 aluminum alloys and a Side Slip Angle Control (SSC) guaranteeing unequalled sportiness in any condition. The signature Ferrari V8 soundtrack tops off this unique driving experience.
The aluminum retractable hard top takes a mere 14 seconds to deploy or retract helping to reduce the weight difference of the Speciale coupé to just 50 kg.
The debut models of the 458 Speciale A will be a unique triple-layer yellow livery with a Blu Nart and Bianco Avus central stripe as well as five-spoke forged wheels in Grigio Corsa.
