After a series of teasers, Jaguar has finally revealed the 2015 XE at Earls Court in London. The automaker says the 2015 XE is incorporated with lightweight construction and streamlined styling.
The 2015 XE is the first model developed from Jaguar Land Rover's new modular vehicle architecture giving it a short front overhang, a longer rear overhand and a dynamic stance.
Jaguar says the 2015 XE has an aluminum-intensive monocoque body structure that allows the vehicle to have a lightweight construction. Its streamlined styling gives the 2015 XE the lowest drag coefficient compared to all Jaguar vehicles. The sculpted hood gives the 2015 XE a muscular appearance while the grill and the sharp headlights along with a 'J-Blade' running lights adds to the vehicle's sporty front fascia.
The taillights of the 2015 XE has a “horizontal line intersecting a roundel,” a design inherited from the E-type model. Moreover, the rear quarters of the vehicle took design cues from the F-Type model.
Inside, technical fabrics, fine-grain leathers and twin-needle stitching adorn the interior of the vehicle. It has a deep center console and an F-Type inspired dials and cluster needle. The 2015 XE also comes with an all-new eight-inch toucscreen 'InControl' infotainment system that features voice control and supports Bluetooth, audio streaming and USB connectivity.
The vehicle also functions as a Wi-Fi hotspot, enbling multiple devices to connect to the internet. Designed with an electric power steering, the 2015 XE offers “incredible tuning potential and greater energy efficiency compared to the traditional hydraulic system.”
The 2015 XE S variant is powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 petrol engine that delivers 340 PS with 450 Nm of torque. It can go from 0-97 km/h in 4.9 seconds and has top speed that is electronically-limited to 250 km/h. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2015 XE will also be available with a variety of 2.0-liter Ingenium four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Full engine specification will be revealed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
