For those living in the south of Metro Manila, traffic has become hellish ever since the construction of the Skyway extension project began. Unfortunately, we have some more bad news. The traffic situation in the area will likely get even worse in the coming days, especially for those living in Zapote, Bacoor and Las Pinas.
The City Government of Bacoor has announced that a portion of the R-2 Road from Las Pinas going to Bacoor near the Zapote Bridge will be closed to traffic. According to the Bacoor LGU, the road closure is needed in order to make preparations for the upcoming CAVITEX construction. They have also released a map showing the possible alternate routes for motorists passing through the area.
Though the arrow on the map released by the City Government of Bacoor might be pointing at Alabang-Zapote Road, we want to clear up that it is not that specific road that is affected by the closure Instead, it's the R-2 road, which intersects Alabang-Zapote and connects Cavite and Las Pinas, that is affected.
Motorists coming from Las Pinas going to Bacoor that will pass through Zapote are advised to make a U-turn going to Longos Road to get into Aguinaldo Highway. From there, they can continue on towards their destination. This is because the stretch of R-2 road along Zapote Bridge will be made one-way for the time being. Meanwhile, those coming from Zapote heading and passing along the same stretch of road will not be affected.
There is no advisory on the duration of the new traffic scheme.
