Peugeot gives sleek 508 a station wagon makeover
Peugeot adds a new body style to the 508 with all-new SW model

Earlier this year, Peugeot introduced the new 508 sedan. The second-generation model featured a reworked exterior design coupled with a more upscale interior. Originally revealed as a sedan, the French automaker has recently debuted a new body style to add to the 508 lineup, a station wagon.

Officially called the 508 SW, Peugeot's latest model takes the same stylish design of the sedan but now sports a longer roof and a hatch at the rear. In fact, most of the design of the 508 sedan seems to simply have been carried over to the station wagon. While it also looks a lot longer than the sedan, it is only 30mm longer.
Up front, there is still the same sharp design with a distinct grill coupled with an aggressive looking bumper and vertical LED daytime-running lights. At the rear however, there now sits a hatch instead of a trunk, giving the 508 more space to fit all your needs. Despite being a station wagon, the rear also appears to adapt that of the 508 sedan. An added touch to the wagon would be the Peugeot lettering just above the full LED taillights.

Step inside the 508 SW, and one is met with the same interior as that of its sedan counterpart. It is fitted with Peugeot's i-Cockpit with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and the same steering wheels. At the center of the dashboard is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Peugeot Mirrorlink, and 3D Navigation. To help the driver, the 508 SW also features a host of safety technology such as infrared nightvision, adaptive cruise control with stop-go function, parking assist, and blind-spot monitoring to name a few.

Powering the 508 SW are the same engines as the sedan. For those who want it with a gasoline mill, the 1.6-liter PureTech engine which produces either 177PS or 222PS is being offered. It can only be had with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Those going the diesel route can choose from three different engines ranging from 1.5- to 2-liters with power outputs of 128 PS, 158 PS and 177 PS. A plug-in hybrid variant is slated to debut in 2019.
The Peugeot 508 SW will be making its public debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show before going on sale in January 2019.
