New-generation Peugeot 5008, redesigned 2008 make their local debut
Besides the all-new 3008, Peugeot Philippines has introduced two more crossovers into the local range. The two cars rolled out by the French marque are the updated 2008 and the all-new 5008, alongside the already revealed 3008. With that, Peugeot Philippines gets three all-new or updated models as 2017 nears its end.
Prior to this extensive redesign, the 5008 was firmly set as a multi-purpose vehicle but now, it ditches the van-like looks for a more aggressive crossover exterior. Still, it retains the seven-seater capabilities of its predecessor, along with a host of new tech from the brand. Its front fascia gets a new wraparound headlights, a larger grill, and a lower air intake. The now-signature 'lion claw' tail lights are also present in the car. The 2018 Peugeot 5008 now serves as the flagship crossover of local range.
Inside, it boasts the new i-Cockpit design which consists of a more compact steering wheel, 12.3-inch digital multi-information display and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Also present are the reworked aircon vents, center console, new metal trim pieces, electronic parking brake, new gear lever and soft-touch controls for the climate control system. At the moment, price and final specifications have yet to be revealed.
At the opposite end of the range is the refreshed 2008, serving as Peugeot Philippines' entry-level crossover offering. The most noticeable change for the 2018 model year is the front fascia. Now incorporating Peugeot's current design language, it has new headlights, a bolder front grill and a more aggressive front apron.
The interior layout has also been carried over from the pre-facelift model apart from the enhanced 7-inch touchscreen display. It gets the Mirror Screen system which supports Apple CarPlay and a reverse camera. The i-Cockpit, Peugeot’s version of a driver-oriented cabin, has been retained as well.
There is also the bonus of a panoramic sunroof with LED mood lighting. Also new to the 2008 is the addition of the GT Line model which gives the B-segment crossover a black chrome grill, gloss black accents, black 17-inch alloy wheels, aluminum pedals and red contrast stitching inside.
Powering the revamped 2008 is a 1.2-liter Puretech gas engine, much like the pre-update models. Horsepower is rated at 130 PS. The 2018 Peugeot 2008 starts at Php 1,490,000.
