Peugeot gives the 308 GTI hot hatch exterior and handling upgrades
Following the reveal of the updated 308, Peugeot has unveiled the updated version of the high performance version, the GTI. For this minor model change, Peugeot has given the 308 GTI more aggressive looks and handling upgrades.
Most noticeable are the changes to the front. The 308 GTI now sports larger air intakes on the side, along with a reshaped bumper. Along with that, it also gets a redesigned front apron, now sporting an integrated chin spoiler. Further separating the GTI from the rest of the 308 models are smoked headlights, a larger grill and a different hood.
As for the rear, the taillights get a mild revamp with redesigned LED clusters. Peugeot also gave the rear bumper a slight revamp and it now come with larger dual tailpipes. The rest of the car carries over unchanged save for a new color combination. New to the 308 GTI is the Magnetic Blue on Perla Nera option.
Besides the visual changes, Peugeot also added handling enhancements to their hot hatch. For starters, the 308 GTI now sits 11 mm lower to the ground thanks to a tweaked suspension set up. The re-tuned suspension is then complemented by a mechanical limited-slip differential courtesy of Quaife. Keeping the car gripping on the road is a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and stopping power is provided by Peugeot Sport slotted brake rotors.
Meanwhile, the engine has been carried over from the current 308 GTI. Powering the hot hatchback is a turbocharged 1.6-liter THP engine. It produces 272 PS and 330 Nm of torque. The lone transmission option is a six-speed manual and it sends all its power to the front wheels.
