Porsche career opportunity program for Filipinos adds VW, Audi brands
PGA Cars Inc., the exclusive distributor of Porsche in the Philippines, has launched the PTRCA 2.0 training program at the brand’s dealership in EDSA, Greenhills.
Since 2008, the PTRCA or the Porsche Training and Recruitment Center Asia has been offering underprivileged young Filipinos career opportunities in the automotive industry.
In the past six years, PGA Cars Inc., in partnership with Don Bosco Technical Institute – Makati (DBTI), has already trained more than 250 young adults as motor vehicle service mechatronic technicians. According to the company, these young Filipino technicians cover Porsche’s growing demand for qualified specialists specifically in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.
Currently, the company says Don Bosco is building a new 6,000 square meter training center in Manila. On an area of about 1,500 square meters, it will house seminar rooms and training workshops for the PTRCA 2.0 program.
“I am glad that we have – along with Don Bosco – established the success of the program. Having reached our six year mark last December, we are confident of the skills of the graduates and long term potential of the advanced training curriculum,” said PGA Cars, Inc., Chairman, Robert Coyiuto Jr.
During the launch of the PTRCA 2.0, PGA Cars, Inc. announced that Audi and Volkswagen have now become their new partners in the said training program.
Porsche AG Head of After Sales Michael Drolshagen said that the reason for setting up the PTRCA in the country is because of the Filipino’s ability to communicate well through the English language.
“Good English language skills and good work ethic [of the Filipinos] are beneficial here. But of course, for us, it means also practicing social responsibility… because a qualification from the PTRCA not only gives these young adults access to the international labor market, it also gives them a real opportunity to noticeably improve their own living conditions,” said Drolshagen.
To date, PGA Cars, Inc. said that the 250 PTRCA graduates are distributed over eleven countries.
