The Philippine auto industry remains optimistic with 34,528 units sold in July 2019.

Consolidated sales of Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), and Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) members totaled to 34,528 units, representing a 1.65% slowdown, selling 529 units less than 35,109 unit total the previous month.

"It is noteworthy that positive factors such as continued and strong sales campaigns and stable supply of units have outweighed the unfavorable effects of the off-peak season to the overall sales growth. Historically, July is considered as one of the lean months of the industry. Nonetheless, we are optimistic that if we are able to sustain this growth trend, we will be able to exceed our sales performance last year," said Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, CAMPI president.

Passenger car (PC) sales totaled 10,526 units, covering 30.47% of the market. Commercial vehicles (CV) continued to take a larger share of the market at 24,002 units or 69.53% of the market.

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) led the CV subsegments, comprising 80.92% of CV sales with 19,192 units sold; 2.96% more than last month's 19,470 total. AUV/MPV segment sold 3,624 units, gaining 7% from 3,387. Truck and bus sales were mostly down. Light truck sales increased by 4.5%, selling a total of 608 units compared to the previous month's 582 unit total. Category 4 Heavy Duty Truck and Bus sales decreased to 377 units (-4.3%) compared to last month's 394 units. Category 5 Heavy Duty Truck and Bus slightly declined to 127 units, (-5.2%) from last month's 134 units. AVID member Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. logged a total of 74 truck units sold, while JAC Automobile International Philippines Inc. did not disclose any figure.
