One million vehicles. That’s exactly how much vehicles Nissan has exported from their manufacturing hub in Thailand to over 115 countries all over the world. In fact, last year the Philippines was one of the top export destinations by volume for Nissan Thailand.
"The export milestone underlines Thailand's importance in our Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision to making safe, smart and sustainable mobility available to as many people as possible. I am particularly excited that the Nissan Terra is the one-millionth export vehicle leaving the port. Made in and for South East Asia, the Terra has been extremely positively received from customers across the region," said Yutaka Sanada, senior vice president for Nissan in Asia and Oceania.
To mark the historical achievement, Nissan held a celebration for their significant production milestone for their manufacturing operations in Thailand. The one-millionth vehicle to roll-off a Thai assembly plant and be export is a brand new Nissan Terra, which has proved to be a popular vehicle in numerous countries.
Nissan first started production in Thailand back in 1960. However, it was only in 1999 that Nissan began exporting vehicles manufactured in Thailand with the Frontier. Since then, the Japanese automaker has continued to invest in its facilities to meet the ever growing demand for Nissan cars in Thailand and all over the world.
Currently, their manufacturing operations in Samut Prakan province has a combined production capacity of 370,000 units a year. Six of Nissan’s most popular models sold across the globe are also built at this plant: the Almera, March, Navara, Sylphy, Teana and Terra.
There's a good chance that your Nissan you're driving today may have come from Thailand.
