Seventh-gen BMW 3 Series may debut next month

The current BMW 3 Series is approaching the seven year mark by the end of the year, and that means, there's a new one coming soon.

We've seen spy shots of the car as early as last year and it was heavily shod in camouflage. Now, the folks from BMWBlog have managed to obtain 'official spy shot' photos of the next-generation 3 Series, internally known as the G20.

It was supposed to be officially 'unveiled' this Sunday but someone had managed to not follow the embargo, and here we are with the photos of the car. Still wearing the swirl-themed camouflage, all the panels are in place so the car seen here is as close to the production version as it gets. By the looks of things, the all-new model is a mix of an evolutionary redesign, while adapting the new look of the all-new 7 Series and 5 Series.

For starters, the headlights are larger than before and the grill is wider. These two parts then merge into each other, much like its bigger siblings. The car in the photos is the M Sport version meaning it gets a more aggressive front bumper treatment with a more pronounced front apron. Along with that, there are large corner air intakes and a large center air intake.

Its sides are largely evolutionary with defined character lines and the signature Hoffmeister Kink. At the back, it's still largely covered but it is likely that it will follow the form set by the 5 Series and 7 Series. Those familiar with BMWs will note that it has split, dual exhaust pipes, hinting that this is what could be the turbocharged, six-cylinder 340i model.

At the moment, technical details are scarce and no interior photos of the car have surfaced just yet. However, BMWBlog does report that all the covers will be taken off come September. That means it won't be long until the world sees the seventh-generation BMW 3 Series.
