Motorists that had to endure heavy traffic at the intersection between Aguinaldo Highway and Daang Hari Road in Cavite can now ‘fly over’ the busy junction.
After more than three and a half years of construction, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have officially opened the Aguinaldo - Daang Hari Intersection Flyover to motorists.
The new four-lane flyover, which was built with a budget of Php 264 million, is expected to reduce traffic congestion along the busy Aguinaldo Highway - Daang Hari Road Intersection. In addition, the DPWH also expects that it will alleviate traffic at the nearby Barangay Anabu roads that lead directly to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
With a total length of 564 lineal meters, the new elevated road will cut travel time from Daang Hari Road towards Malagasang-Bucandala-Alapan Road from 30 minutes to about 15 minutes. Other than that, the new flyover will also improve the standard of living in the area since it will fast-track the delivery of goods and services according to the DPWH.
Originally set to be opened at an earlier time, construction was delayed due to right-of-way issues. But what ultimately caused the delay in its completion was due to an accident during construction back in May 2018. A boom crane operator committed an error when they placed a girder on a concrete beam on the flyover. This caused the structure to collapse, resulting in the need to make new girders for the road project.
