Another auto brand has re-entered the Philippine market, and it wants to take a slice of the mini MPV and mini commercial vehicle segment. Officially opening its doors to the public is Changan Motors.

Brought by Berjaya Auto Asia, Inc., Changan is the latest auto brand to arrive in the Philippines and will sit alongside Ssangyong under the company's new Auto Asia dealership. With it, both Changan and Ssangyong will complement each other as they offer both “business and pleasure” vehicles as the company claims.

“When a buyer walks into an Auto Asia dealership, one can choose from a wide range of products from SUVs, pickup trucks, MPVs, or small trucks for both the family and one’s business. And they will get the same brand of sales and after-sales service that puts the customer first”, says Mr. Japheth Castillo, President of SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines, Inc. and Berjaya Auto Asia, Inc.

Serving as Changa's premiere MPV offering is the Honor S. It's available with either 7 or 8 seats and is one of the few mini MPVs in the market that come with rear dual sliding doors. Unlike most of its competitors which have now adopted a sleeker shape, the Changan Honor S has a more upright design which allows for a more spacious cabin and luggage compartment.

It has a distinct front fascia with sleek halogen headlights, 15-inch alloy wheels, and a unique set of taillights that are complemented by a rear diffuser at the back. Stepping inside, it has black fabric seats, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AM/FM radio, Aux, Bluetooth, USB, and iPod connectivity, and front and rear air-conditioning.

Powering the Honor S is a 1.5-liter EA15-AB four-cylinder gasoline engine. It makes 105 PS along with 145 Nm of torque, and is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels. What it may lack in certain amenities, the Honor S makes up for it with a plethora of safety features. It gets dual airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, alarm with engine immobilizer, ISOFIX anchors for child seats, reverse camera with rear parking sensors, and a child safety lock.
