What to see at the Nissan booth
Only one week to go before the 4th Philippine International Motor Show, and already we're getting the reports of what's coming out when PIMS opens their doors at the World Trade Center in Pasay.
Nissan Motors Philippines, Inc., on top of their models like the Sentra, Teana and others, will be displaying the much anticipated 370Z, the Nissan Almera subcompact sedan, as well as the Nissan Grand Livina Highway Star and the X-Trail Highway Star.
The Nissan 370Z will be joined by its Filipino-Canadian designer Randy Rodriguez, based out of Nissan Design America . The coupe has a 3.7 liter V6 that produces over 330 horsepower, rear-wheel drive as well as the Synchro Rev Match system for the manual transmission version; meaning the car will 'heel-and-toe' for you.
Hold your horses about this car though, as NMPI will not be selling the 370Z here. The car was brought in purely for PIMS. If you recall, NMPI used to import the 350Z, but had a few challenges with pricing.
Joining the powerful, but-not-for-sale 370Z will be the Nissan Almera. The Thai-made model will be competing in the subcompact segment against the likes of the Vios, Accent and City. The engine of the Almera (in its domestic Thailand) is a 79 PS, 3-cylinder 1.2 liter motor, matched with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
The Almera at PIMS will still be a preview, as the official launch of the new subcompact sedan is still a few months away. Pricing is still unavailable, as well as official specifications and equipment. What is sure is that when launched, the Almera would be the longest sedan in the subcompact segment, measuring 4425mm long, 1695mm wide (without mirrors) and 1500mm tall.
Joining the 370Z and the Almera will be the new 'Highway Star' variants for the Grand Livina MPV and the X-Trail crossover. Both the Grand Livina Highway Star and the X-Trail Highway Star get performance upgrades from JDM tuning house Autech Japan, as well as sportier bodykits and accessories.
The 4th Philippine International Motor Show will be at the World Trade Center Pasay City from August 16-19.
