Fresh off the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, the XM concept made an appearance at this year's Philippine International Motor Show. According to Mitsubishi, the XM Concept gets its name by combining the features of a multi-purpose vehicle with the functionality of a crossover.
Up front, the concept sports the brand's Dynamic Shield that is paired to aggressive headlights, black grill and large foglights. On to its side, it has bold box-flare wheel arches and two character lines that define its doors and rear quarter panel. The windshield meanwhile merges with a panoramic glass roof and a high roof-line, a common element in MPVs. At the back, the concept gets L-shaped LED taillights, a unique tailgate and a roof-mounted spoiler. The manufacturer also says that this concept is slightly wider and taller than most MPVs to generate more interior space and ground clearance.
With the promise of MPV versatility, the XM concept offers space for seven along with various seating arrangements to boost cargo flexibility. As for interior amenities and highlights, it gets white leather trim that is accented by gray trim pieces and splashes of metal décor. In terms of equipment, it features a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control and a glass roof.
As mentioned during the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, Mitsubishi announced that the XM Concept will indeed transition into a production car. The automaker adds it will retain the crossover-MPV features with production starting by October 2017 in Indonesia.
