Italian styling house claims PF0 will go from 0-100 km/h in less than 2 seconds

Famed Italian styling house Pininfarina has officially branched out to building cars, thanks to Mahindra

Automobili Pininfarina, a new company that has emerged from the original Italian design firm responsible for many of Ferrari's greatest models, now has a new mission in life and is set to produce ultra-luxury zero emission vehicles. Automobili Pininfarina will soon be making electric cars that are quick, sleek and elegant.

Their first car will be called the 'PF0', an all-electric hypercar that will supposedly have a combined system output of 2,000 PS. Apparently, the car will have four electric motors which will allow it to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in under two seconds and reach speeds of up to 402 km/h. Besides being quick, the PF0 will also have a 500 km range which will allow it to be taken on long roadtrips.

Production of the PF0, along with the rest of their future vehicles, will be made possible via a technical collaboration with Mahindra Racing Formula E team. Michael Perschke, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, said that they will make a range of vehicles that will have 'design purity, emotional appeal and innovative EV technology to customers worldwide'. The first production model of the PF0 will be revealed to the world come 2020.

“Automobili Pininfarina is a pioneering new business created to service the most discerning clients in the world. Our product portfolio will launch with an innovative, zero-emissions hypercar that represents the progression we aim to make at the pinnacle of the luxury and sports car market,” said Perschke.

Beyond that, Perschke also said that the company has hired some of the best talents in auto industry all over the globe. He added that the team is focused on building ground-breaking and desirable electric vehicles through a business strategy that will see Automobili Pininfarina be a sustainable luxury automotive business.

The company is set to reveal the PF0 concept design to private clients at the 2018 Monterey Car Week this August.
