With Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), movement in these areas has been limited once more as the government tackles the rising number of active cases.
Unlike last year, public transportation will continue to operate within ECQ areas, albeit with reduced passenger capacity (50% allowed only). More importantly, public utility vehicles are exempted from the revised curfew that runs from 6:00 PM until 5:00 AM daily.
With that, the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) recently announced that they will continue operating despite the return of ECQ. As a result, essential workers can go to PITX and take a ride on the numerous available PUVs.
“Most of our passengers at PITX are part of the workforce; they are essential workers who need public transportation to be available so they can earn a living, especially in this time of the pandemic. We’ll stay open to be of assistance,” said Jason Salvador, PITX Corporate Affairs and Government Relations Head.
The PITX will allow persons authorized outside residences (APORs), workers in permitted industries/establishments, and those that need to access essential goods/services to enter ad use the services. However, they will need to present a valid ID and supporting documents (i.e. certificate of employment) upon entry. Transport operators will also check the said requirements before allowing passengers to board.
The public vehicles that will be available at PITX include:
-Provincial Buses (Point-to-point trips only)
-UV Express vans
As an added reminder, PITX will require passengers to follow the minimum health measures. These include the mandatory wearing of face shields and face masks, physical distancing of 1.5 to 2 meters with one another, and mandatory temperature scanning. (Anyone exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius will be denied entry).
With the major transport terminal to remain open during Holy Week, those that need to get to work, or buy essential goods will be able to find and take public transportation at PITX. Just remember to have your valid IDs and documents on hand. Also, always wear a face mask and face shield at all times while in PITX.
