Back in September, Polestar and Volvo have officially parted ways with the former launching a range of high performance electric cars. No less than a month later, Volvo's former in-house performance arm has announced that they will soon be debuting their first ever model on October 17. In the meantime, Polestar has left small puzzling teaser images of their upcoming vehicle.
By puzzling we mean that, one needs to combine the small teaser images in order to see the bigger picture. Placed on a grid according to the numbers, the image reveals the rear end of Polestar's first ever model. Taking a look at the details revealed by the bigger picture, the LED taillights appear similar to that of the S90. It also features a low slung roofline and a carbon fiber diffuser, indicating that this model is likely performance oriented.
Aside from similarities with the S90's rear, Polestar's still unamed introductory model also appear to similar to the Volvo Concept Coupe's rear end (pictured above), which was introduced more than four years ago. It is possible that a production model of the Concept Coupe could occur in the shape of Polestar's first production vehicle.
Apart from the teaser photos, Polestar has not released any information about the car's interior or powertrain. Do expect however that a hybrid powertrain from Volvo to be used on this vehicle as well as upcoming models. Apart from hybrid models, Polestar was previously reported to introduce pure EV models. However it has yet to be confirmed whether the model teased is that of a pure EV vehicle. Futhermore, it is also likey that Polestar models will also sit on Volvo platforms, namely the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform used on the S90 with a bit of modification.
More details on Polestar's yet-to-be-named car will likely be revealed together with the vehicle during its debut on October 17. Those who wish to see the individual photos of the upcoming model may check out it out through Volvo's Instagram account here.
