One of the issues vehicle owners have to deal with during this time of lockdown and quarantine is their vehicle’s warranty. This is especially true for cars with expiring warranty coverage. Fortunately, some automakers have extended the warranty period for vehicles in select countries.
Porsche, however, has gone a step further to cater to its customers around the world. The German marque has announced that they will be extending warranties for all vehicles worldwide. This is applicable for Porsche vehicles with new car warranties expiring between the period of March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020.
“Our ultimate aim is to create enthusiasm among our customers – this includes providing outstanding services particularly in difficult times. We have therefore decided to implement a uniform and unbureaucratic solution worldwide. Customers do not have to do anything, the Porsche Centers will take into account the extension automatically,” says Daniel Schukraft, Head of Aftersales at Porsche AG.
The new expiry date for Porsche’s warranty date will be calculated from the end of the current period and will be extended by three months. For example, if the new car warranty expires on March 20, 2020, the extension will extend it until June 20, 2020. Meanwhile, a new car warranty which was due to end on May 15, 2020, will be extended until August 15, 2020.
Aside from the new car warranty, Porsche says that the extension applies to customers who have purchased a Porsche Approved warranty to follow on after the expiry of the new car warranty. If the Porsche Approved warranty starts within the period in question, it will also be extended by three months.
The best part is, PGA Cars has acknowledged this and the extension applies for cars sold from their dealerships. So for all the Porsche owners out there, no need to worry about your precious vehicle’s warranty ending during this period. You all get a free extension for three months. Just make sure your vehicle’s warranty is up to date.
It's not just for Porsche either as they have confirmed that Audi owners in the country are also covered by the three-month extended warranty, which should be a relief for those who bought cars from them. The warranty period for Porsche and Audi vehicles sold by PGA cars is at two years and unlimited mileage.
