Porsche recalling nearly 59K Macan S, Turbo models over fuel line leak

Possible leak in low pressure fuel line cited as cause for recall

The Stuttgart-based automaker has just announced that 58,881 units of the Macan S and Turbo models around the world will have to be recalled for a possible leak in the low-pressure fuel line.

The examination and part replacement will be free of charge, and owners will be contacted directly for scheduling. Replacing of the low pressure fuel line will take approximately about an hour.

So far, the company has identified 21,835 vehicles that are affected in the US, while Canada has 3,490 Macans plagued with the faulty fuel line. The remaining 33,356 units have not yet been accounted for in terms of place of origin.

Porsche treats the incident as a 'purely precautionary measure' as there have been no reports yet of death or injury resulting from the faulty component.

There is no word yet from PGA Cars, Inc., the official retailer of Porsche cars in the country, if there are any local Macans in the country that have the faulty fuel line.
