Fans of the Cayenne that want a sleeker-looking crossover can now get their hands on one after Porsche officially revealed the 2020 Cayenne Coupe.
It serves as the newest body style available for the Cayenne and is set to take on the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
“The Coupe includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional,” said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
From its namesake, the Cayenne Coupe now has a sleeker look thanks to the coupe-like roofline. The steeper roofline, according to Porsche, gives the crossover a more athletic appearance than its standard counterparts. It also comes with redesigned rear doors, slightly wider quarter panels, a new roof spoiler which accentuates the Cayenne Coupe’s sportier appearance, and a more rakish windshield. It even comes with an adaptive rear spoiler that aids in delivering more downforce.
“The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupe appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment,” said Michael Mauer, vice president of Style Porsche.
Creating a sense of space, as well as giving the crossover a more stylish look comes courtesy of a a large fixed panoramic glass roof. Other available options for the Cayenne Coupe are the following: lightweight carbon fiber roof, 22-inch GT Design alloy wheels, and a sports exhaust system.
As for the interior, the seats are upholstered in a mix of Alcantara and Pepita trim. Meanwhile, carbon fiber accents spruce up the Cayenne Coupe’s sporty cabin. Like the other Cayenne models, the sleeker Cayenne Coupe is also fitted with a three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, plus a digital multi-info display.
Under the hood, the all-new Cayenne Coupe is available with two turbocharged engines that deliver sports car-like performance. First up is the 3.0-liter turbo V6 for the standard model. It generates 335 PS along with 450 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 - 97 km/h in 5.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 243 km/h.
Next up is the Cayenne Turbo Coupe which packs a twin-turbo V8. It cranks out a meaty 541 PS and a staggering 768 Nm of torque. With it, the twin-turbo Cayenne Coupe can catapult from 0 - 97 km/h in 3.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 286 km/h.
Besides having turbocharged engines as standard, the 2020 Cayenne Coupe also comes with the following: Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and the Sport Chrono Package which provides faster acceleration.
