2018 Porsche Boxer GTS, Cayman GTS gets more power and visual upgrades

In a bid to cater to more performance and driver oriented clients, Porsche has recently revealed the new GTS variant for both the 718 Cayman and Boxer. Officially revealed as a 2018 model, the new Cayman GTS and Boxer GTS gets a host of performance enhancements and subtle visual upgrades as well.

Starting off with the GTS's performance figures, total power output of the 2.5-liter flat-four turbocharged engine is now rated at 365 PS, which is 15 PS more than the 718 S variants and 35 PS more than the previous-gen Cayman/Boxer GTS. Torque is also up to 430 Nm for the optional 7-speed PDK transmission and 419 Nm for the 6-speed manual, which comes standard. Power upgrades come from a new intake system and changes to the turbocharger.

Thanks to the increase in performance, the Posrche says both GTS variants now do 0-97 km/h in 3.9-seconds with a top speed of 290 km/h. In order to further enchance performance, Porsche has also added their Active Suspension System and Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear differential as standard on the GTS.

Visually, the 718 GTS looks identical to other 718 models from a far. However, Porsche has slightly tweaked the GTS to distinguish itself from other 718 variants. The headlights and tailights on the GTS are tinted black combined with a slightly revised front bumper and a more prominent rear diffuser. The 20-inch wheels are also finshed in black with black badging all over the body to complete the sportier treatment.

Inside, one gets treated to a plethora of Alcantara found throughout the interior. Porsche's Sport Chrono Package comes standard on the GTS and comes with a centrally mounted chronometer.

Deliveries of the 2018 718 Boxer GTS and Cayman GTS are expected to begin in March 2018.
