Porsche facelifted Cayenne SUV for 2015 model year


Sports new exterior and updated power

Porsche has revealed the updated 2015 Cayenne SUV. The new model features a sharper design, more standard kit and improved performance on some of their models.

Designers from the German automaker gave the front end, fenders and hood a new look by providing more lines and edges. Air fins called “airblades”, located at the right and front end of the vehicle, are a new feature to the Cayenne. The fins guide air into the intercoolers while at the same time giving a fresh new look to the vehicle’s front.


The rear look of the car was also revamped, particularly on the layout of the taillamps. The tailgate handle, lights and license plate cavity have been redesigned to integrate nicely on the tailgate lid. The new exhaust system is now placed lower at the rear end.

Inside, the 2015 Cayenne gets a new multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles. Porsche says its looks and functions are based on the steering wheel of the 918 Spyder. The rear seat seating system has also been updated to give more comfort. Moreover, seat ventilation comes as an option for the rear seats.

The Cayenne S gets a new 3.6L twin-turbo V6, creating 420PS at 6000 rpm and a healthy 550Nm of torque, readily available at 1350-4500 rpm. The new unit produces 20PS and 50Nm more than the older 4.8L V8 and can do a 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 257 km/h.

On the other hand, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid still uses the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 but the electric motor on the hybrid model has been improved. It now produces 95 PS; 48 more than the predecessor. The new model has a lithium-ion traction battery pack that has an energy capacity of 10.8kWh, making a drive on pure electric power possible and can reach an electric top speed of 125 km/h.

The combined figures create a total system power of 416 PS at 5500 rpm and a total torque rating of 590 Nm. It can go from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 243 km/h.
