Portion of J.P. Rizal near EDSA Guadalupe to be closed Aug 15
MMDA to reroute traffic along J.P. Rizal Avenue in Makati due to steel pole installation
Motorists that usually take J.P. Rizal Avenue in Makati City are advised to take a different route this Sunday.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that a portion of J.P. Rizal Street will be closed to traffic on August 15. According to the agency, the segment near EDSA Guadalupe will be closed off to give way to the installation of a Meralco steel pole from 12:01 AM to 5:00 AM.
With it, the MMDA will conduct a traffic rerouting scheme near the Guadalupe Viejo Cloverleaf Park. Vehicles coming from West Rembo will be diverted to use the Guadalupe Cloverleaf to get to their destinations. Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Poblacion and Guadalupe Viejo will also have to take the opposite direction of the aforementioned cloverleaf.
The MMDA said that the installation is part of the Guadalupe Bridge Rehabilitation Project being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). With both the Estrella-Pantaleon and Kalayaan Bridges now open to the public, perhaps the DPWH will start conducting repair works on the Guadalupe Bridge.
With the traffic rerouting set to be done in the early hours of August 15, the MMDA expects that there won't be too much traffic in the area. Remember, ECQ is still in effect. Non-APORs are advised to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary. Besides, unless you're working or a medical frontline, you really shouldn't be out at those times anyway. For those that don't remember, the curfew starts at 8:00 PM and lasts until 4:00 AM.
