The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to expect heavy traffic as portions of EDSA-Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City will be closed starting June 21, Friday until June 23 between 11 PM and 4 AM.
In an advisory released by the MMDA, Manila Water Company, Inc. will be doing repair work on their defective mainline butterfly valve, leading to the closure. The agency says that emergency repair is needed in order to address the availability of water supply in the area.
According to Manila Water, the valve is located on the outer southbound lane of EDSA-Shaw Boulevard. Even with only one lane affected, it is expected to cause massive gridlock in the area as the affected area is a popular drop-off and pick up point for commuters. Furthermore, motorists often experience heavy traffic along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard even without the closure. That said, the MMDA advises commuters and motorists alike to adjust travel times in order to avoid being inconvenienced.
The same portion of EDSA-Shaw Boulevard will be closed once again from June 28, Friday to June 30, Sunday from 11 PM to 4 AM in order to complete repairs by Manila Water.
