Jaguar F-Pace to act as support vehicle for Team Sky in Stage 1 of Tour De France
Jaguar's much awaited concept-turned production crossover will be making its first debut run as the automaker announced that a prototype version of the F-Pace will fulfill the role of a support vehicle during the 2015 Tour De France.
Set to begin this Saturday at Utrecht, The Netherlands, the British crossover will provide assistance to Team Sky's Chris Froome who will partake in Stage 1 of the annual bike race. In addition, the F-Pace's role in the race will also act as a real-world test of the crossover which is scheduled to have its world premiere in September.
The exterior of the F-Pace has been wrapped in a special camouflage that incorporates both the performance and design thought up by Team Sky and Jaguar. It has carbon fiber textures along with layered effects that will help hide key design elements of the crossover added Jaguar.
Described by the automaker to have the best-in-class cargo capacity, the upcoming crossover will be able to carry the necessary gear needed for the biker like drinks, energy gels, clothing, tools and spares for the bike. In addition, the F-Pace prototype will also be carrying four key members of Team Sky, the team's sports director, doctor, mechanic and another senior team member.
Moreover, the crossover will also have a a specially designed quick-release bike rack that was made by Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).
“The F-Pace is awesome. It has all of the same high performance road dynamics and support package the team gets from its Jaguar's vehicles, only this time in a performance crossover. It's going to create a huge impression in Utrecht,” said Froome.
Vehicle Line Director of the F-Pace, Kevin Stride is pleased that they are helping Team Sky for the 2015 Tour De France as it will serve as a testbed for the upcoming crossover.

The Jaguar F-Pace is a striking balance of performance, style and practicality. And what better way to showcase the vehicle's attributes than on this crucial first leg of the Tour De France,” said Stride.
The upcoming crossover will have its official launch at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
