Malaysia will soon be holding their own rendition of Vios Cup with the inaugural Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Challenge. Set to begin on August 12 – 13, the one-make race will see top Malaysia drivers battle it out for the championship.
In celebration of the upcoming racing event, Toyota Malaysia recently revealed a special version of the Vios called the Sports Edition. Essentially a kitted-out version of the B-segment sedan, it takes inspiration from the race-spec Vios that will compete in Vios Challenge.
As the name implies, the Sports Edition Vios gets a racing-inspired livery courtesy of black and red stripes and a unique bodykit. It even gets a large rear wing and 15-inch alloy wheels painted black. Other features equipped on the Sports Edition are the halogen reflectors, LED daytime running headlights (DRLs) and rear foglights.
Inside, the special edition Vios appears relatively the same as its standard models but comes with subtle changes. Such features found inside the Sports Edition Vios include bespoke sport seats and floor mats, illuminated door sill plates and amber-colored footwell lighting. There is also a 2-DIN audio sound system that comes with Bluetooth, AM/FM radio and CD.
Powering the special edition Vios is the familiar 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i 1NZ-FE inline-four. It produces 107 PS at 6000 rpm and has 140 Nm of torque available at 4000 rpm. Instead of the usual 5-speed manual gearbox, the Sports Edition comes with a continuously variable transmission with seven 'simulated' gears available in manual mode. Topping it all off is the Sports Edition suspension system which drops ride height by as 27 mm.
