It looks like Ram just built their best-selling pick-up truck to date.
Last week, Ram unleashed the 2021 1500 TRX super truck. Aimed squarely against the Ford F-150 Raptor, this V8-powered beast cranks out 711 PS and 881 Nm of torque from a Hellcat-derived engine. Not only that, it also gets an uprated suspension system, bigger wheels and tires, improved dampers, and an intelligent drive mode select.
All well and good, but Ram decided that it would be best to offer a limited edition model of the all-new 1500 TRX. With that, the automaker revealed the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition. Only a total of 702 units will be built and all are already sold out. That's right, in less than 24 hours, all units of the Launch Edition special have been spoken for.
But what makes the Launch Edition TRX so unique that customers were willing to shell out over $90,000 (about PhP 4.370 million) just to get one? Let's start with its distinct paint called Anvil Gray. Don't expect to find this particular hue in other Ram models as this is exclusive only to the 1500 TRX Launch Edition. As for the interior trim upgrades, the Launch Edition comes with a special brushed aluminum center console badge painted red – further signifying that it's a limited-run model.
Don't think that the Launch Edition is all show and no-go. Besides getting a flashier exterior and interior, Ram also installed the TRX Level 2 Equipment upgrade. This gives the pick-up truck a new carbon fiber interior trim, heads-up display, beadlock-capable wheels, 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and special body graphics.
“The groundswell of demand for our all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition validates our efforts to bring the fastest, quickest, most powerful pickup truck to market. We said the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition would go fast. And we meant that in more ways than one,” said Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand.
With production for the 1500 TRX super-truck set to begin in early Q4 of 2020, it might be a long while before the first models of the Launch Edition leave FCA's Sterling Heights factory in Michigan. But with the Launch Edition already sold out, you can bet that the order list for the standard models of the 1500 TRX is already becoming a long one.
