Being the premium mid-size SUV offering from the folks at Jaguar Land Rover, the Range Rover Velar has poised itself to be quite a desirable vehicle since its release a couple years back. All the ameneties and offroad prowess of a Range Rover packaged in a slightly smaller yet elegant SUV meant that the Velar has secured itself a cozy spot in Land Rover’s lineup as of late – but that’s not to say it could use a little more improving.
It looks like the folks from Land Rover were up and busy with just that, and they’ve tapped their Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) skunkworks to give the Velar enough grunt to carry all its added luxury and special touches. The result of this is the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition – quite a handful name, but we’ll probably get as much car as its name suggests. In fact, the Velar SVAutobiography’s party piece is a 550 PS 5.0-liter supercharged V8; a motor strong enough to propel it from 0-100 km/h at 4.5 seconds and to a top speed of 274 km/h.
Considering that a sizeable motor needs to breathe, the Velar SVAutobiography is distinguished by its new front fascia which sports a healthy amount of air intakes. These large gaping holes are there to feed air into the motor as well as towards the uprated brakes for added cooling. That, along with a new grill, louver, and rear garnish with quad exhausts rounds up the exterior of the new top-range Velar.
As its name suggests, the Velar can be specced in various trims and colors to the liking of any client. However, considering the Velar SVAutobiography is from SVO, they’ve thrown in an exclusive color for this vehicle alone: Satin Byron Blue. All Velar SVAutobiographies will also come with a contrast Navik Black roof to further distinguish it as a range-topping Velar.
For rolling stock the Velar SVAutobiography comes with forged 21-inch alloys that supposedly weigh the same as the 20-inchers found on the base model Velar. Clients can also spec an optional 22 inch wheel with a custom ‘silver sparkle finish’ for more personalization.
You can’t enter a Range Rover and expect it to be empty with amenities, and the Velar SVAutobiography is chock full of them. A curated set of trim finishes with perforated and quilted Windsor Leather find their home within the top-spec Velar. An integrated Touch Pro infotainment system mounted dead center plays host to all the creature comforts and tech inside. As for hardware, Calibrations for the AWD system, Active Rear Locking Differential, eight-speed transmission, steering and air suspension have all been honed and are bespoke to the SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition to ensure proper handling and responsiveness from the performance Velar.
The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition will supposedly only get a one-year production run as a limited model.
