Refreshed 2022 GAC GS8 now in PH, starts at PHP 2.088M

GAC Motor Philippines gives the flagship GS8 a high-tech upgrade

GAC Motor Philippines has just given its flagship SUV an upgrade.

After launching the GN8 Master's Edition, GAC distributor Legado Motors Inc. (LMI) has revealed the 2022 GS8. Now equipped with more amenities and safety features, it now offers more value for money while also looking more robust than ever.

Beginning with the exterior, GAC says its dimensions remain the same. But they were busy fitting it with a number of exterior upgrades. These include larger intake vents, new chrome trim on the front bumper, and a faux rear skid plate painted silver.

Moving inside, and the GS8's interior also gets some neat updates for the 2022 model year. The seats are now wrapped in Alcantara leather. Meanwhile, the front now benefits from heated and ventilated seats with adjustable lumbar support and memory function. The rear seats also come with adjustable lumbar support for added comfort. There's also a new USB charging port and electrical outlet at the back to give occupants other options to charge their mobile devices.

Sitting at the center of the dashboard is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment. It supports Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and USB. Other available features include a six-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charging pad for smartphones, 10 cupholders, LED ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a heated steering wheel with audio and cruise control function.

Under the hood, the 2022 GS8 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. It makes 199 PS at 5200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1750 – 4000 rpm. Depending on the variant, it's available either as a 4x2 or as a 4x4 vehicle.

When it comes to safety, the GS8 has plenty. It has anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist, traction control system (TCS), a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, fingerprint sensor door lock, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a power tailgate, and 10 airbags.
