BMW gives the updated M240i the black and carbon fiber treatment
Closely following the online reveal of the updated BMW 2-Series, the automaker recently unveiled the limited-run M240i M Performance Edition. Built to further highlight the coupe's sportiness and athleticism, the M240i Performance Edition gets a plethora exterior upgrades that are comprised of carbon fiber components and blacked-out trim pieces.
Up front, the lip spoiler, radiator grill and kidney grill bars are all finished in black, with the spoiler getting a matte finish. Also getting the dark treatment is the rear diffuser which gets a partially black finish. Meanwhile, the rear spoiler, exhaust tailpipe, side mirror caps and side skirts are all made from carbon fiber, a nice contrast against the white bodywork of the M240i.
Shod in the wheel wells are lightweight 19-inch double-spoke forged wheels that are painted in Orbit Gray. It also has a staggered tire setup with the front axle getting 225/35 tires while the rear gets 245/30 rubber.
Powering the M240i M Performance is a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six that puts out 340 PS. Available transmissions include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic. When fitted with the optional xDrive AWD system, the M240i will only come with the automatic gearbox. It can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds before reaching a an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Only 750 units of the M240i M Performanced Edition will be made and they will be made available starting July 2017.
