After being revealed ahead of its official debut by the PRC's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the refreshed Geely EX5 EV has been revealed in full. Featuring a slightly redesigned exterior, the EX5 gets a more dynamic appearance, new & improved features, and a new drive layout where the electric motor now drives the rear wheels.

Starting with the most significant change, the updated EX5 EV goes from a FWD layout to a RWD layout. This gives the EX5 a new frunk that can store up to 160 liters worth of luggage and can even work as a makeshift bath for pets.

Besides just giving the EX5 a new RWD layout, Geely was also busy giving the EX5 EV more power and range. In fact, it gets a new electric motor that cranks out 245 kW (or 333 PS), a massive increase over the current EX5's 217 PS output. Complementing the more powerful motor is an 800V architecture that supports ultra-fast charging.

Powering the new Geely EX5 is the brand's Aegis Golden Brick battery. It's available in three capacities: 60.22 kWh, 61.52 kWh, and 70 kWh. On a full charge, Geely claims the three battery packs can provide a maximum range of up to 530 km, 550 km, and 635 km, based on the CLTC standard.

To allow drivers to quickly recharge the EX5 EV, Geely introduced Smart Charging. It's the brand's answer to BYD's Flash Charging and is rated to deliver up to 2,250 kW (or 2.2 MW) of charge to a Geely EV. When connected to the EX5 EV, it can replenish the EX5's battery from 10% to 70% in approximately 8 minutes and 25 seconds.

Open the doors, and the new EX5 EV features a 15.4-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, along with a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel. There's also a new rotary gear selector that comes with a crystal-like finish, zero-gravity seats for added comfort, 50W wireless charging pads, high-quality leather upholstery, massage seats with heating & cooling functions, a power tailgate, USB-C and USB Type-A charging ports, and a panoramic sunroof.

With the new Geely EX5 EV now in China, we're curious if the automaker plans to reveal the upgraded crossover to the Philippine market in the not-so-distant future.
