Back in the '60s, Ferrari was one of the most dominant teams in motorsports. They were in fact close to unbeatable be it in Formula 1, Le Mans, or any other racing series at the time. However, in 1966, the Italian sports car builder was given a run for their money when the rival American team, Ford, managed to dominate the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The battle between the two continued on for a few years, becoming one of the greatest rivalries in motorsports history.
Soon, we will get to relive the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Better yet, we will also get to watch it on the big screen in a movie called Ford v. Ferrari. The stars of the movie will be portraited by two Oscar-winning actors – Christian Bale and Matt Damon. Bale will be playing English racer Ken Miles, while Damon will play legendary car designer Carroll Shelby. Together, they will tell the story of how Miles and Shelby, backed by Ford, created the iconic GT40 – the car that defeats Ferrari and swept the 1966 Le Mans podium.
At the moment, no trailer has been released just yet, leaving us only with these few photos. However, expect the trailer to drop anytime soon as the movie is set to be released on November 15, 2019. As for what's in the movie, it is expected to consist mostly of real racing cars rather than CGI, giving it a more realistic feel.
Ford v. Ferrari is directed by James Mangold, who previously directed the movie, Logan. The film will also star Caitriona Balfe, Tracy Letts, Josh Lucas, and Jon Bernthal.
