Report: Lexus files patent for hotter LC

Lexus LC F may soon be on the way

It appears that Lexus is hinting a more powerful version of their current halo car, the LC. A trademark application filed by Toyota to the European Union Intellectual Property Office gives a hint that the Lexus LC coupe will also be receiving the high performance F treatment. The patent filed on February 3 and 6 registers the names “LC F” and “Lexus LC F” respectively.

Despite the patent being filed, it does not guarantee the production of the LC F. Automakers often file trademark names simply to protect them. However, with the filing of this patent, it may be a step closer to the production of an even more powerful LC.

With the current F models, the GS F and RC F, already being powered by the-5.0 liter V8 engine that is also used on the LC 500. That in mind, there are different speculations regarding the power plant of the LC F. It could utilize a twin-turbocharged version of the 5.0L V8 engine as seen in the TMG Sport 650 Concept back 2012, producing around PS.

Considering that the Lexus LC has just started sales, an F version is unlikely to join the lineup anytime soon.
