Mercedes-AMG is currently working on their latest 4 door coupe for a possible debut in 2018. It will reportedly be a rival for the Porsche Panamera.
To reportedly be named the GT4, it will be based on the company's current sports coupe, the GT. According to the report, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will not look like a stretched GT. Instead, the GT4 will look different from its 2 door counterpart. The report says the GT4 will have an "amazingly low roofline", bespoke doors, quarter panels and bumpers. Like the Panamera, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will be a five door sportback.
The GT4 is expected to come in three trim levels namely the AMG, AMG S, and AMG Sport. It's highly likely the GT4 will get its underpinnings from the Mercedes-Benz CLS Class which is based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Rumors suggest that pricing for the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will be in between the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Mercedes-AMG GT.
It noy yet known if the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will get the same power unit as well as output of the current AMG GT. At the moment, the GT is propeled by a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 producing 475 PS and 600 Nm of torque. The more powerful GT S model comes with the same twin-turbo V8 but tuned to 510 PS and 650 Nm of torque.
