Range Rover Evoque PHEV may soon join Land Rover's hybrid range

With Jaguar-Land Rover slowly moving towards electricifaction, it comes to no surprise that some models are already receiving the electric treatment. Earlier this week, Land Rover revealed the Range Rover Sport P400e, the British marque's first ever vehicle to feature a plug-in hybrid system. It won't be long until other models within Land Rover's line up will also feature some form of electrification.

Apart from the larger Range Rover, Autocar UK reports that the next-generation Evoque will also be a plug-in hybrid. It is said to use a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine which will work together with an electric motor to power the SUV. This would give the second-generation Evoque better mileage, performance and more importantly reduced emissions.

No details have been released yet regarding the upcoming Range Rover Evoque PHEV, but Autocar says that it will use a lithium ion battery pack, which uses a new 48 volt electrical architecture. The same architecture was previewed back in 2015 with the Evoque concept e.

With development still undergoing, Land Rover has been quiet about the upcoming Evoque PHEV, and did not reveal any details regarding the model's arrival. Do remember however Jaguar-Land Rover expects to electrify all models in their line-up by 2020, so expect it to be released anytime before that.

It is likely that the introduction of the Evoque PHEV would also coincide with the reveal of the next-generation Evoque, which will use a larger platform. Once revealed, the Evoque PHEV would also be joining the line up of PHEV Range Rover and Range Rover Sports.
