A Porsche dealer in Australia has leaked details that a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS is on its way. The leak was posted on their official Instagram page, saying “Due to high demand, a GT4 RS is on its way – with more power and a 4.0L flat-six engine...” The post has since been taken down from their Instagram account but Car Advice Australia has since taken a screen shot of it.
Despite rumors quickly spreading after the launch that a more track focused RS model is on its way, Andreas Preuninger, Porsche's GT boss, quickly denied it. He did state however, “Never say never.”; leaving the door open. Thanks to Porsche Centers Brisbane's post, the door to the GT4 RS might really be open soon.
The GT4 RS will supposedly use the same 4.0 liter flat-six engine as the 911 GT3RS but will apparently be de-tuned for its application. With the 911 GT3RS engine already pushing out 500hp, compared to the GT4's 385hp, expect the GT4 RS to be one exciting Cayman.
Official word from Porsche Cars Australia denies that a GT4 RS is on their agenda. It is safe to assume however that it will be coming soon thanks to the dealer leak. With no official word on what Porsche will bring to Geneva, they might just pull the covers off the new GT4 RS there.
