The 2015 Tokyo Motor Show may bear witness to a new hatchback concept as Suzuki is reportedly planning to debut a new Swift Sport Concept.

According to Motoring AU, the upcoming concept will preview the new-generation Swift and will have a rally-inspired look. No images of the aforementioned hatchback concept were provided but it will apparently measure 1,800mm wide and will be fitted with an aerodynamic bodykit.

Powertrain-wise, it will be driven by a new 1.4-liter inline-four that benefits from the company’s ‘Booster Jet’ turbo technology. It will be mated to a dual-clutch gearbox. Moreover, it will also employ a hybrid system called ‘S-Energy’ which makes use of lithium-ion batteries that boosts power and allow all-electric cruising.

All of that power is then transferred to all four wheels via Suzuki’s All Grip AWD system. What is unique about the All Grip system is that it only delivers power to all four wheels on straight lines and reverts to FWD when the car tackles a sharp bend. It then switches back to AWD once the driver has made the turn.

The Suzuki Swift Sport may have its world premiere at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show while the next-generation Swift may arrive at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
