The yet-to-be released BMW X7 will apparently be available with a more luxurious model after Drive Australia reported that the company is working on a 4-seater X7 that will have all the bells and whistles of an ultra-luxury Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).
Last October 2014, BMW officially announced that they were working on the X7 which will deliver luxury to the SAV segment. Like the X5, the upcoming vehicle will be able to seat 7 but BMW also plans on making a 4-seater model which will essentially be the bigger brother of the 2016 7-Series.
If the uber-luxury variant will indeed see production, it may substantially be BMW’s stab against Aston Martin’s DBX, Bentley's Bentayga and Rolls-Royce’s future luxury SUV.
The company is still developing the X7 but it is scheduled to have its global reveal in 2017 before eventually going on sale in 2018.
Apart from the rumored eschew of the third row seats, the ultra-luxury model will also share the technologies and cabin amenities of the new G11 7-Series like an air-suspension and power rear seats with massage function as such.
Powertrain details are not yet confirmed though reports indicate that it will be available with turbocharged gasoline or diesel-powered engines including a twin-turbo V8. In addition, a plug-in hybrid may also see production for the upcoming X7.
