New Jimny shows up at Suzuki website
The cat is pretty much out of the bag for Suzuki.
After leaked photos of the all-new Jimny were posted a couple of weeks ago, Suzuki has steered into the skid, so to speak, as they have just revealed the first photos of the next-generation 4x4 on their global website.
Like the photos from before, the all-new Jimny dons a retro-inspired design that takes inspiration from classic 4x4s. The boxy-profile, along with the blacked-out front fascia. is a direct nod to the Samurai and SJs of old.
Based on the imagery, the 2019 Jimny will be available in either two-tone or single-tone colors. The former is available in three hues: Kinetic Yellow, Brisk Blue Metallic and Chiffron Ivory Metallic. The latter, on the other hand, will be available in the following body colors: Jungle Green, Bluish Black Pearl 3, Medium Gray, Silky Silver Metallic and Superior White.
Besides getting a closer look at the the exterior, we were also able to get a peek inside the mini 4x4. The cabin carries a retro-modern theme that mixes both old and the new. The 2019 Jimny features an upright dashboard that is complemented by what appears to be a touchscreen infotainment system and an automatic climate control system.
In addition, the interior of the Jimny also appears to have borrowed several styling cues from the new-generation Swift. This can be seen on the dual gauge cluster with multi-info display, center console design and three-spoke steering wheel.
Underneath its boxy design, the 2019 Jimny still makes use of a ladder frame chassis. It even comes with what appears to be a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is connected to a 4WD system. With details regarding the Jimny's powertrain still scarce, we have to wait for the official unveiling to know what Suzuki did to make the Jimny more capable on- and off-road. What we do know is that it will be available with either a manual or automatic transmission.
The 2019 Suzuki Jimny will most likely make its world debut next month.
