Suited and booted: Rezvani Tank X is an armored super SUV with military hardware
What do you get when you combine a supercharged V8, the chassis of the all-new Jeep Wrangler, armoring, and other military-inspired features? This is the mighty Rezvani Tank X, and by George it reminds us of one of the coolest cars of the 80's: the Lamborghini LM002.
Essentially a steel fortress on wheels, this 4x4 behemoth was built by the very same folks that made the Beast, Beast Speedster, as well as Beast Alpha. That's right, the California-based supercar maker is now also in the business of making super SUVs.
As mentioned earlier, the Tank X uses a platform derived from the all-new Wrangler. This gives the Tank X all-terrain capability and the ability to go off-road with ease. Combined with its 4-inch lift kit, on-demand 4x4, Fox shocks and 37-inch off-road tires, the Tank X can go anywhere it pleases no matter what the terrain or Mother Nature throws at it.
The design, on the other hand, appears to borrow inspiration from the infamous Hummer, as well as the revered FJ Cruiser. It's no sleek SUV, but frankly it looks menacing which we're growing to like. To think that this used to be a Wrangler.
If the exterior is too brawny, the inside is a different story. With the full leather package, the Tank X greets its occupants with a plush interior. There's even the option of having the headliner made out of suede. And since it's basically a suited up Jeep, those familiar with the 4x4 can easily familiarize themselves inside the Tank X.
But what sets the Tank X apart from the common SUV is its high-tech military features. For starters, it can come with thermal night vision (FLIR) which will allow drivers to see everything in the dark with ease. Then there's its Kevlar armor, bulletproof glass, military-grade run-flat tires, underbody bomb protection, as well as electromagnetic pulse protection (EMP). That means the Tank X can still keep on going despite any war going on.
Other neat features available include: self-sealing fuel tank, armored radiator, electrified door handles to keep away unwanted personnel, and video surveillance.
Pop the hood and a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 makes its home in the Rezvani Tank X. Derived from the Dodge Demon, Rezvani tweaked the engine to produce more power. The result? The V8 now produces a staggering 1,000 PS along with an impressive 1,180 Nm of torque. With it, the company claims it is now the most powerful SUV in the world. But being fast means you also have to stop quicker. Thanks to massive 16-inch rotors an 8-piston brake calipers on all corners, the Tank X can easily shave off speed.
Don't fancy having a 1,000 horsepower V8 under the hood? Don't worry as the Tank is also available with a wide array of other engine options. There's the small 288 PS 2.0-liter turbo which Rezvani says is only available outside the US. Moving up the range is a naturally-aspirated V6 which also puts out nearly 290 PS. It is then followed by a 6.4-liter V8 which packs over 500 PS. Finally, there's a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 which pumps out 288 PS.
Thinking of getting one? Better start saving as the Tank X starts at a whopping $349,000 (about Php 18.205 million). If you prefer something a bit more affordable, there's the standard Tank which costs $155,000 (about Php 8.085 million).
