Remember the D-Max Boondock from years before? Well after being dormant for several years, Isuzu Philippines Corporation has brought the name back, albeit for a limited time. Say hello to the all-new 2019 D-Max Boondock and its dashing looks. It comes with exclusive exterior add-ons like new wheels and tires, as well as an upgraded suspension system.
Unlike the standard D-Max on offer, the Boondock comes with a unique front grill design that features an eye-catching blue-painted trim. Also unique on this D-Max are the special side steps, and the 'Boondock' decal placed prominently on the tailgate. Other new features installed on the pick-up truck are the: roof rails, rocker panels, over fenders, cargo extender and a bedliner.
Keen-eyed viewers might have also noticed that this D-Max appears to be taller. That's because the new Boondock comes with upgraded dampers. Placed on all four corners are monotube, nitrogen-charged performance shocks which lifts the D-Max's height from 1795mm to 1900mm. Other than that, the truck is also fitted with 17-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 265/70/R17 all-terrain tires.
Thanks to the new wheels and tires and improved dampers, the D-Max Boondock has a generous ground clearance of 247mm, 12mm higher than stock.
Inside, the special edition D-Max keeps the familiar cabin design as its standard stablemates. The only change it received on the interior are the leather seats which now come with a different contrast stitching. Providing in-car infotainment is an 8-inch touchscreen display that comes with navigation as standard. Besides that, the 2019 Boondock has an automatic climate control system, engine start/stop button, and three USB charging ports.
Under the hood, the Boondock special is only available with one engine option; the 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TCX with Blue Power Technology. It generates 177 PS at 3600 rpm along with 380 Nm of torque at 1800 – 2800 rpm. Depending on the variant, the special edition pick-up truck can come with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. However, unlike the Boondock of yesteryear, this new one is only available as a 4x2.
Only two body colors can be specified for the 2019 D-Max Boondock; Black or Gray.
Official pricing of the 2019 D-Max Boondock will be revealed soon.
