Your kid can still submit their dream Rolls-Royce of the future

We have some good news for those who still wish to join Rolls-Royce's Young Designer Competition.

Originally, the luxury brand set the deadline of the competition only until the middle of May. But thanks to the overwhelming response from children around the world, the luxury brand has extended the deadline of entries until June 1, 2020. This gives designers up to the age of 16 an additional two weeks to create and submit their dream Rolls-Royce of the future.

First launched in April, the global design competition has attracted over 2,000 entries from children in more than 70 countries. The aim of the competition was to stimulate design talent and provide children a welcome distraction amid social distancing measures and self-isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rolls-Royce did not release any specifics on what the car the kids should design. Instead, they are encouraging them to let their imaginations run wild and let their creativity levels rise to their fullest.

Another reason that Rolls-Royce decided to extend the deadline is that despite several countries already easing lockdown measures, there are still children that are unable to go to school. For them, this could affect the child's social interaction and activity skills.

The overall winner will receive a once-in-a-lifetime prize: a fully rendered illustration of their design. Runners-up will receive a certificate individually hand-signed by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

“We’re delighted by the sheer inventiveness, vision, and detail we’re seeing in the children’s designs. Some of the ideas are truly extraordinary and have really got us thinking; it’s inspiring us as a design team to see things differently and challenge our own notions of what’s possible. We’re really looking forward to the judging process, but it’s going to be a huge challenge to pick our winners,” said Gavin Hartley, Head of Bespoke Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

Those interested in joining can submit their design by clicking on this link here. They can only submit until June 1, 2020, at 12:00 PM British Summer Time (7:00 PM local time, May 31, 2020).
