Last week, Ford officially revealed the 2021 Bronco after a long hiatus. Revived after being discontinued in the mid-90s, the all-new Bronco now serves as a direct competitor against the Jeep Wrangler and other similar 4x4s.

With power ratings ranging from 270 PS to 310 PS, a generous ground clearance of 290mm, and a water wading capacity of 851mm, the Ford Bronco is one capable 4x4 that has the numbers (and pedigree) to back it up.

But before the first few examples make their way to customers, aftermarket specialist Saleen has already revealed a customized Bronco of their own. Simply called the 'Saleen Big Oly Bronco', the modified 4x4 is inspired by the 'Big Oly Bronco' that competed in the Baja 1000, one of the most grueling endurance races in the world.

Big Oly, which was driven by Parnelli Jones, made a name for itself after it won the annual endurance race twice in 1971 and 1972. For Saleen, what better way to make a souped-up Bronco than by paying homage to one of the greatest 4x4s that compted in Baja 1000.

Saleen is building a badass, custom Ford Bronco image

Initial details about the tricked-out Bronco are limited, but Saleen did mention that it will have an extensively upgraded exterior. It gets a customized front bumper with integrated LED lights and a carbon skid plate, a unique Saleen front grille surround in forged carbon with Blue Baja accents, composite front, and rear fenders, as well as a Saleen power hood.

Other exterior features available on the Saleen Bronco include rocker panel guards, a removable roof with a modular roof rack, an adjustable rear spoiler, LED lightbar, a new rear tire carrier, and rear bumper, and a 'Big Oly'-inspired winning livery with Olympia insignia and Baja Blue accents.

There were no mentions of any powertrain and suspension upgrades for the Saleen Big Oly Bronco, yet. Based on the renders, it's highly likely that the chassis will receive Baja capable suspension and upgrades as well to the EcoBoost heart of the 2021 Bronco.

With Ford now accepting reservations for the all-new Bronco, we won't be surprised if Saleen will also begin accepting reservations for the Big Oly special. And with more details regarding the custom Bronco to be revealed soon, expect interest to further build with Saleen's upcoming build.
