SEAT has released images of an ‘exciting new design study’ and is ready to showcase it at the 2014 Wörthersee Treffen, the gathering of Volkswagen Group brands. Called the Ibiza CUPSTER, it honors the 30 years of ‘iconic SEAT Ibiza’ and is an innovative design study from SEAT Design.
The Ibiza CUPSTER is based on the series production Ibiza Cupra, which also has a 1.4 TSI engine that puts out 180 and is mated to a DSG dual-clutch transmission.
In CUPSTER form, this two-seater concept model is lower and wider than its predecessor and is roofless. The front windscreen has been replaced with a wrap-around strip window and the seating position is 80 millimetres lower.
“The Ibiza has always been the heart of SEAT – a young, dynamic car with an emotional design, a good head for the practical things in life and excellent value for money. At Wörthersee, we are celebrating the anniversary of our most successful model with the unique Ibiza CUPSTER, not to mention the exceptionally well-equipped 30 Years edition – and, of course, with a great programme,” says Jürgen Stackmann, President of SEAT S.A.
The Ibiza is the embodiment of creativity and according to the marquee has ‘a design that is as emotional as it is dynamic,’ which is captured and redefined in the concept Ibiza CUPSTER.
It comes with a custom ‘New Orange’ paint job with a ‘racing feel’ inside inspired by the Ibiza Trophy race car. The steering wheel is wrapped in aniline leather while the upholstery of the ‘double-bubble’ style bucket seats is of black Alcantara. It comes with precision sports running gear and it sits on 18-inch wheels.
