Remember when Toyota revealed the cool and spacious TJ Cruiser at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show? Well you're in for a treat as the concept is set to make an appearance at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
From October 24 – 28, Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) will have the TJ Cruiser on display at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. It will serve as the center of the automaker's booth and will showcase the brand's vision of future mobility.
Combining the rugged looks and functionality of an SUV with the spaciousness of a van, the TJ Cruiser is Toyota's idea of blending two different vehicles into one practical automobile. It features a distinct exterior and comes with scratch- and dirt-resistant fenders. Even the roof and hood of the concept are made from the same resistant material for better durability. Thanks to a square-shaped design, it can easily fit large cargo as well as several passengers.
Inside, all of the seats can be folded flat and come with tie-down points for securing loose luggage. Both the tailgate and sliding door have huge apertures as well which makes for easier storing or removal of objects. Toyota even went on to say that luggage as long as 3 meters can easily be stowed inside the TJ Cruiser.
Under the hood, the concept is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine that is helped along by a hybrid system. Exact power figures were not revealed however. As for the name itself, the 'T' stands for toolbox which highlights the functionality of the concept while the 'J' means joy which describes the feeling of visiting new places.
Apart from the TJ Cruiser, Toyota will also be displaying several all-new models, their best-sellers and other high-tech vehicles. These include the all-new Vios and Rush, the Fortuner, Innova Touring Sport, Land Cruiser, Prius C and the Vios One Make Race (OMR) pace car.
