Do you pass through Sevilla Bridge often? Better find an alternate route as the bridge connecting San Juan and Mandaluyong will be closed this weekend.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the Sevilla Bridge in Mandaluyong City will be closed starting on August 10 in connection to the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 project. In an advisory released by the agency, the bridge, which connects the two cities will be closed to traffic starting Saturday, 10 PM and will re-open on Sunday, August 11 at 10 AM.
In particular, the MMDA says the closure of Sevilla Bridge will take place because the contractor of the Skyway Stage 3 Project will be moving two 180-ton cranes to be used for the installation of the coping beams. As such, motorists are advised to take alternate routes during the 12-hour period that the bridge will be closed.
With the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 in full swing, expect to see more closures and traffic rerouting in areas affected by construction in the coming months. The 18.68-kilometer elevated expressway connecting Buendia in Makati to Balintawak in Quezon City is expected to be fully opened by Q1 2020 and will reduce travel time from around 2 hours to just 15 to 20 minutes.
