Lexus revealed the next stage in the expansion of its GS range with the unveiling of its new GS 300h saloon at the 2013 Shanghai motor show. The new model will be competing at the heart of the premium executive market, with a focus on fleet and business customers, slotting in under the larger GS 450h.

The GS 300h features a rear-wheel drive configuration and is powered by a 2.5-liter petrol engine with D-4S direct injection technology that's coupled with a powerful electric motor. With the GS 300h, Lexus’s plans to make the GS 300h one of the most fuel efficient models in its class with a CO2 emissions value below 110g/km.

A full hybrid version of the GS 300h can also be expected from the brand soon as it plans to further expand the GS range.

More details about the GS 300h will be revealed closer to its global launch date that's slated later this year. The GS 300h is expected to be sold in global markets including China, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
