Shanghai 2015: Lexus premieres the RX 200t F Sport

Lexus debuts the RX 200t F Sport with turbocharged 2.0-liter

After debuting the 2016 Lexus RX at this year's New York Auto Show, the automaker unveiled another variant of the midsize crossover at the 2015 Auto Shanghai. The RX 200t F Sport is the company's take on producing a performance-oriented RX that utilizes a turbocharged engine.

Outside, the all-new RX is now covered in the company's current design language as its front end features the brand's spindle grill and sleek headlights while the side and rear have well-defined character lines, flared wheel arches, new taillights and dual exhaust pipes.

Cabin amenities carry over as well from the other models featuring a 12.3-inch infotainment screen along with a colored heads-up display. Other features present in the RX 200t F Sport include: heated rear seats, 60:40 power folding rear seats and a new retractable power panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the RX 200t F Sport is driven by a 2.0-liter inline-four that benefits from variable valve timing and a low-inertia turbocharger that comes with an air-to-liquid intercooler. No exact power output has been provided by Lexus but they did state that they are aiming to reach 231 PS. It is then mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that has optimized gear ratios for 'strong acceleration from a standstill and at overtaking speeds' as claimed by Lexus.

On the other hand, the standard RX 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 304 PS while the hybrid variant called the RX 450h, has a 3.5-liter V6 unit that is paired to an electric motor, which also gives it a total output of 304 PS.
