McLaren has revealed the 540C coupe at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. The 540C completes the brand's two car line-up in the McLaren Sports Series. With this, the 540C joins the recently launched 570S.
In terms of the design, the 540C took design cues from the 570S. However, McLaren said that the 540C gets a subtly revised aerodynamic package and a dedicated wheel design. Up front, the vehicle is fitted with aero blades situated below the front bumper. The 540C also has a sculpted hood and LED headlights.
When viewed from the side, the 540C features McLaren's dihedral doors as well as the Pirelli Pzero Corsa forged alloy wheels (19 inch on the front and 20 inch on the rear).
The rear of the 540C comes with a diffuser placed between the twin exhausts, an integrated spoiler and distinctive taillights that are similar to the 570S.
Inside, the 540C features leather upholstery to the seats, dashboard and lower doors. It also has a “floating” center console along with a seven-inch IRIS touchscreen.
The 540C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 540 PS at 7500 rpm and 540 Nm of torque between 3500 to 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed Sequential Shift Gearbox (SSG) transmission. McLaren claims that the vehicle can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds along with a top speed of 320 km/h.
